APPLICANTS in the Keighley area are being sought for a county-wide fund designed to help fight crime.

The scheme has been opened by the High Sheriff of West Yorkshire, Dr Terry Bramall.

Dr Bramall is welcoming applicants from across West Yorkshire to apply for grants to enable young people aged five to 25 to play a key role in creating safer communities.

The fund was established in 2016 by former High Sheriff Chris Brown, working with Leeds Community Foundation.

This latest round of grants will look to support existing projects or community groups looking for cash to help them continue their work, or projects wanting to expand and develop their current activities.

Ideas for each initiative should either come from a young person, or where the project was developed by adults, young people should have a significant role in its management.

Grants of £500 to £2,500 are available and the deadline for applications expires at noon on Thursday November 9.

People can visit leedscf.org.uk/high-sheriff-of-west-yorkshire-fund for information on grants criteria and to download application forms.
