SINGERS from Keighley were among 1,500 Rock Choir members who performed recently at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom.

Keighley Rock Choir joined fellow groups across the North of England for the celebratory concert at the renowned venue.

The singers were accompanied by the Easy Street Big Band as they performed well-known feelgood songs from the Rock Choir repertoire ranging from Motown to chart songs.

The event was held to celebrate the amount of money raised by the northern Rock Choir leaders and members who took part in the Three Peaks Challenge earlier this year, raising almost £13,000 for leading music therapy charity, Nordoff Robbins.

Kathryn Davies, the regional Rock Choir leader, said: “It was the most incredible experience bringing all my teams’ choir members together under one roof.

“Blackpool well and truly rocked and the memories will stay with us for a very long time. It was an incredible evening - we will treasure the memories forever.”

The leaders surprised their choir members by opening the show with a surprise dance routine to Let’s Face the Music which set the tone for the event.

During the evening two professional dancers also took to the dancefloor in a ‘Strictly-style’ traditional ballroom routine.

Rock Choir founder Caroline Redman Lusher sang Something Inside So Strong which has over the years become an anthem to Rock Choir.

She later said: “The evening was totally overwhelming, life-affirming and highly emotional for everyone. I am also extremely proud of the leaders, they were amazing.”
