CRITICAL Reaction’s EP launch gig at the Exchange Arts Centre was a hometown appearance for at least one of the musicians.

The four young members of the indie-rock band hail from various parts of Lancashire and Yorkshire, including Keighley.

Fans flocked to the venue in Russell Street, Keighley, to hear the band perform songs from their debut EP Take Some Time.

The band said: “The launch gig was amazing, we sold out the venue and the atmosphere was electric. We had an amazing time.”

Critical Reaction is made up of four young men: singer and rhythm guitar player Patrick Ralphson, drummer Will Smith, lead guitarist Brad Sykes and bass guitarist Ben Nicoll.

The quartet of teenagers, who are all aged 17 or 18, came together in late 2015 to write and perform their own music.

A spokesman for the band’s publicity team said: “These guys bring their own exciting style with brilliant energy, and are rapidly gaining attention from Manchester all the way to Leeds.

“They have played gigs and festivals all over Yorkshire and Lancashire, gaining a strong following. They have a drive to keep pushing forward.”

One critic said of Critical Reaction’s live act: “These guys are all teenagers but show a maturity on stage that belies their young years.

“I liked the way Patrick drew the crowd in straight from the start getting them to surround the stage area.

“He also has a very good voice, in fact each one of these guys has something special about them, something that creates a great stage presence.”
