A BRAND new fundraising event in aid of Manorlands coined-in a whopping £29,000.

Some of those involved in Run Bolton Abbey gathered for a cheque handover.

The event, last month, attracted more than 1,300 entrants.

Participants could choose from 10K, ten-mile and half-marathon runs on trails around the picturesque Bolton Abbey estate.

There was also a two-mile fun run, which headed alongside the River Wharfe to the Priory and returned on the other side of the water.

The event was sponsored by Midgley Motors, of Snaygill.

Partner organisations involved were the Bolton Abbey Estate and Keelham Farm Shop, with support from Skipton Athletics Club and the Airedale Dodgers running club.

Molly Ralphson, a community fundraiser at the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice and the event lead, said: "We are absolutely delighted with the amount raised from the first running of this event.

"It has proved to be a huge success and the proceeds really will make a difference to the incredible care we provide for patients and their families at Manorlands and in the community.

"We would like to sincerely thank everyone involved – the runners, those who sponsored participants, and our partners, sponsors and essential volunteers. Without them all, we wouldn't have been able to raise such a fantastic amount."
