JOBS in geography were mapped out by an expert when she visited Parkside School.
Former Parkside student Sophie Wood, now a Royal Geographic Society Ambassador, delivered 50-minute workshops at the Cullingworth school covering geography and GCSE Geography.
Parkside head of geography Liam Radcliffe said Sophie designed and resourced the sessions, which were held for all year nine students instead of their normal lessons.
He said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for our students and for raising awareness of geography at Parkside and beyond, so hopefully we will be working a lot more closely with the Royal Geographic Society on future projects.
“Students have been learning more about ‘why study geography?’, and the six topics they will study at GCSE. They are considering the concept of ‘our environment’ and how we can influence it.
”The students have been really engaged and said they found the workshops really interesting. Now they know more about what GCSE Geography entails and what skills they will develop as they progress towards a career.”
