COUNCILLORS discussed how to react to selfish motorists dumping litter from their vehicles along a scenic rural road in Oxenhope.

Members of Oxenhope Parish Council were responding to a letter from a local dog walker complaining about the state of Black Moor Road.

The writer commented: "I walk my dog up Black Moor Road every morning, and the litter, beer cans etc discarded from cars is strewn all the way up to Heights Lane, where more rubbish is usually left, along with tissues and condoms. It really is an eyesore."

Councillor Ken Eastwood, chairman of the parish council, said: "This is an issue that does come back to us periodically.

"I suggest we raise this with our Police Community Support Officer. But this is a remote spot, and as the littering isn't happening on a daily basis it is difficult in terms of enforcement.

"An occasional drive past by police might help."
