A "Last Night at the Proms" style concert takes place at St Thomas’ Church, in Sutton, next month.

It will feature performances by the Yorkshire Volunteers Band, a military group which can trace its history back to 1860.

The band forms part of the Yorkshire Volunteers Regimental Association, and plays throughout the UK and Europe in both concert and marching band formations.

Reverend Helen Collings, vicar of Sutton with Cowling & Lothersdale, said: “We are looking forward to a stirring evening of musical entertainment,” and she added that the event would take place on Saturday March 17 at 7.30pm.

Tickets for the concert cost £8, which includes a glass of wine.

They can be bought from Sutton Park Pavilion, from Maureen Green on 01535 635269 or from Tom Chilton on 07821 955885. Any profits will go towards the upkeep of the church.
