PLANS to turn a former mill site in Oxenhope into 17 homes are now with Bradford Council.
A developer has submitted the proposals for Brooks Meeting Mill, in West Shaw Lane.
The applicant has explained that these proposals are an expansion of an earlier permission that was granted for this site in 2015.
Under the latest plans the mill itself would be converted into six three-bed homes and one four-bed home, with 10 three-bed houses to be built on the land next to the property.
A detailed design statement accompanying the application argues that although it does increase the number of homes intended for the site from the previously permitted from 10 to 17, this would still be an acceptable development on what is brownfield land.
The statement adds: “The conversion of the existing Brooks Mill involves a minor extension to its height, and as this doesn’t impact on the character and setting of the building, there is no significant alteration to it.
“The five extra dwellings proposed under this scheme, reflect the scale, massing, height and design of the adjacent five new dwellings, are on brownfield land, and they importantly reflect the scale, massing and height of the former mill building on this part of the site.
“Therefore, the impact on the openness of the Green Belt is no greater than that of the previous mill building on this part of the land.”
