A PROFESSIONAL gardener from Haworth is bracing himself for his second London Marathon this spring.

Steve Thorpe, who first completed the famous route back in 2015, has confirmed he will be taking part in this year's run on April 22.

He will again be running to raise cash for Manorlands Hospice.

Mr Thorpe explained: "My work colleague and friend Neil McCallum sadly passed away in Manorlands at the end of January, after a brave fight against cancer.

"On the same day I found out Neil was terminally ill Manorlands rang to ask if I would run for them. It was as though it was meant to be, so I am running the Marathon for Neil.

"I'm now asking people if they would kindly sponsor me, so I can raise as much money as possible for this brilliant organisation.

"I think everybody knows someone who has experienced the absolutely brilliant end of life care someone dear to them has experienced in Manorlands."

People can visit Mr Thorpe's page on the Virgin Money Giving website to sponsor him, or alternatively call 07969 658743 to get a sponsorship form from him.
