ONE of several grit bins that a Keighley councillor reported stolen has re-appeared.
Earlier this month Councillor Michael Westerman, chairman of Keighley Town Council's watch and transport committee, said four of these bins had been taken – along with their contents – from separate locations in Bracken Bank, Shann Park and Utley.
Today (March 7) he said one of these, the bin situated close to bungalows occupied by elderly residents in Central Avenue, has since been put back.
But Cllr Westerman said he feared the bin's return might not be well intentioned.
"I think they've only put it back there so once it's been re-filled they can steal it again," he warned. "That same bin has had its grit stolen before, very soon after it was filled."
Commenting during the latest meeting of Keighley Public Transport Watch this morning, he said his town council committee currently administers 70 grit bins in the parish, and had received 18 requests for additional grit bins over the last week alone.
