A MAN due to appear in court in connection with a crash that claimed the life of a Keighley man has reportedly fled to France.
Terence Sutcliffe, 30, of Cleveland Street, Colne, in Lancashire, failed to attend a hearing at Bradford Crown Court yesterday.
He had also failed to attend a hearing at the same court on May 11, when a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Prosecutor Richard Walters said: “Police have made enquiries, and it seems Mr Sutcliffe has left the jurisdiction. It appears he has flown to France.”
Sutcliffe is charged with causing the death of 74-year-old Rade Brkovic by dangerous driving, and causing serious injury by dangerous driving to Joan Brkovic, 70.
The crash took place on the B6255 between Ingleton and Hawes, on April 9 last year.
Judge Colin Burn ordered that the prosecution case be served by July 26, but no further court hearing was scheduled.
