A Keighley blind association stalwart has received a coveted accolade.
Visually impaired Peter Robinson, an association committee member, has received the World Sight Day Edith White Achievement Award.
The presentation was made by Keighley town mayor Councillor Amjad Zaman at the association’s annual meeting.
Chief executive Kevin Baldwin said the board of directors decided Peter was a worthy winner of the award for his commitment to supporting association services — he attends the social centres at Cross Hills and Silsden and computer training at the sight centre, in Scott Street, Keighley.
And last year Peter, from Sutton, in his 70th year and the association’s centenary, raised £1,200 by taking part in the Flora London Marathon.
The award is in memory of Mrs Edith White, of Steeton, who was an association committee member for 24 years. She died last year.
