Four people will contest next month’s Keighley Town Council by-election.

The poll will take place in Riddlesden and Stockbridge Ward, on February 11, to fill a seat left vacant by former town councillor George Edge. He stepped down last year due to ill health.

The candidates are Fulzar Ahmed, of Broomfield Street, Highfield, John Baxandall, of Laycock Lane, Laycock, Beverly Bottomley, of Elam Wood, Riddlesden, and Geraldine Stack, of Ridgemount Road, Riddlesden.

Ms Stack, 55, is a healthcare assistant at the maternity unit at Bradford Royal Infirmary.

Mr Ahmed, 27, works as a sales manager in Keighley.

Ms Bottomley, 43, owns the Cavendish Court café, off Lawkholme Lane.

And Mr Baxandall, 53, no longer works but used to be a farmer.

The three polling stations will be at the Riddlesden United Reformed Church, in Bar Lane, the meeting room at St Mary’s Church, in Riddlesden, and the Sangat Centre, in Marlborough Street, Lawkholme.

The count will take place on the evening of February 11, at Keighley Leisure Centre.
