A man attempted to snatch an 80-year-old woman’s bag as she walked along a Keighley street.
The incident happened in Oakworth Road at about 11.45am yesterday, as the woman was walking from a post office.
The attacker ran off empty handed, leaving his victim shaken but uninjured. She was taken to Airedale Hospital for a precautionary check-up.
A 25-year-old Keighley man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently being questioned by detectives.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the attempted robbery.
Acting Detective Inspector Ben McDonald, of Airedale and North Bradford CID, said: “We would like to speak to anyone who has information.
“We believe a number of people would have witnessed what happened and we would ask them to contact us at Airedale and North Bradford CID on 0845 60 60 606.”
