Cross Hills-based Pinnacle Taxis has turned green.

The firm – taken over by Robin Thornber nine months ago – has become what is believed to be the first low-carbon taxi service in Craven.

Its two cars and one minibus, each covering up to 60,000 miles a year, now run on pure biodiesel or a blend of biodiesel.

Mr Thornber said: “I’ve spent the last nine months re-establishing the firm back into the market. The intention has always been to run Pinnacle alongside another small business that I own that works within the biodiesel industry (Grease Monkeys Biodiesel).

“I’ve now rolled out the second stage of the business – to be the first low-carbon taxi service operating in the Craven area, running all of our fleet on pure biodiesel or a blend of biodiesel, depending on the time of year and vehicle spec.

“This will make a huge difference to our and our customers’ carbon footprint.

“All our biodiesel is produced by us from reclaimed oil to reduce the knock-on effect to the environment from using new oil.

“We also use the most energy-efficient methods for the production of the fuel to comply with the Environment Agency guidelines.

“We can hopefully help pave the way for other companies in the Craven area to follow, in both carbon reduction and generally promoting a better environment for everyone's future.”
