The Silsden branch of the Royal British Legion is inviting residents to sit down and have a smile.

Members have donated a bench to say thanks for the support of local people over the past few years.

The seat is next to the bus shelter outside the branch’s headquarters at the Cobbydale Club.

The inscription says: “Raise a glass, rest awhile and think of things that make you smile”.

A branch spokesman said the Royal British Legion had been re-established in Silsden over the past few years.

He said: “We are now going forward, gradually building up our membership and we have been pleasantly surprised at how the residents of Silsden have backed us in all our ventures.”
