Family to hold charity event to say thanks
9:00am Sunday 29th July 2012 in Keighley
The family of ex-serviceman Charlie Cadwallader is holding a charity bowling match and social night.
They want to say thank you to the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) for its support for their late father.
Mr Cadwallader’s daughter Anita said SSAFA was a fantastic charity helping all ex-service personnel however young or old they might be.
She said: “SSAFA helped my father by providing a top-of-the-range mobility scooter for him which we only had to return when he had passed away. They also helped after his death and because of this we would like to give something back.”
The family have chosen to run a bowling match at Sutton Park on September 15 from noon because Mr Cadwallader loved the sport.
Mr Cadwallader, who served in the Catering Corps, played bowls for the Sutton team.
There will be a £50 prize and trophy for the winner and £25 for the runner-up, as well as a “hole-in-one” competition for younger children.
A 60s/70s/80s disco will be held from 7pm on the same day, at Cross Hills Social Club, with a pie and peas supper, bottle bingo and raffle.
Anyone wishing to enter the match or donate money or raffle prizes should contact Anita on (01535) 636892 or 07826 559100, or Heather on (01535) 635726. All ages can enter.
