Police plea after break-ins

Police today appealed for information about burglars who raided two houses in Goose Eye on successive days last week.

Jewellery, binoculars, bank cards and a laptop were stolen from one house during the daytime last Wednesday.

The thieves smashed windows to enter, and are believed to have placed the items in a red and grey rucksack taken from the house.

The second incident took place on the Thursday, with the suspects smashing windows but not taking anything.

Several witnesses have told police they saw two or three suspicious men in the area during the day.

Detectives are now seeking information about the two incidents, which took place in the hamlet between Oakworth and Laycock.

Detective Inspector Stuart Lyons, of Airedale and North Bradford CID, said: "We would like to hear from anybody who may have seen the men acting suspiciously in the area or have any knowledge about either incident and the whereabouts of a laptop computer embossed with HECKMONDWIKE GRAMMAR."

Two local men aged 36 and 48 have been arrested and were this morning being questioned. Several items of stolen property have been recovered.

Anyone with information should contact DC Nikki Whitley on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
