Lancashire-born Shelagh will display 34 paintings at Saltaire Methodist Church, on Saltaire Road, over the next two weekends.
Her work has moved from watercolours of the Dales, through art as therapy for people with mental health issues, to a focus on spirituality, light, life and colour, often using abstraction, with lots of different media.
Shelagh said: “I was invited to hold an exhibition in Saltaire this September and ‘Seeing the Light’ sprang to mind as an apt title.
“I had then to choose from my many paintings the ones that would fit into the theme. In the end I chose only 12, the other 22 are completely new works. I realised I had set myself a mammoth task, but that it would give me scope to say through my art what my heart says about God.”
Shelagh will give a talk about her work at an opening event tomorrow at 7.30pm before the exhibition is open to the public on Saturday, from 10am to 4.30pm, and Sunday from noon to 4.30pm.
It will be open between the same times next weekend, on September 15 and 16.
