Officers go under-cover on Keighley district bus to help tackle crime
12:00pm Sunday 16th September 2012 in Keighley
Plain-clothes police tackled trouble in Ingrow, Oakworth and the town centre after hopping on a bus.
The officers travelled around anti-social behaviour hotspots in Keighley and Bradford on a dedicated First Bus vehicle.
In Keighley bus station they told several loud youths that other passengers should not have to hear them swearing and shouting.
The officers stopped at the skate park in Ingrow, searching six young people and finding a discarded cannabis bush on the ground.
In Oakworth, the police confiscated alcohol from 16-year olds in the park and issued a warning to a driver who had given a hand gesture to the bus driver.
The bus returned to the Ingrow area, where officers investigated reports of stones being thrown at houses and vehicles in Staveley Road.
Police have warned that undercover bus operations will be carried out regularly, and people could be stopped by officers at any time.
