Fresh appeal over fight that led to Keighley woman, 82, being hurt

Police have renewed appeals for witnesses to a town centre fight in which an 82-year-old woman was knocked to the ground and hurt.

Brenda Farrar, who lives in Keighley, suffered bruising to her elbow after youths involved in a fight outside Keighley Library barged into her. She was caught up in the incident while waiting at a pedestrian crossing.

The brawl took place at 2.40pm last Wednesday afternoon in North Street. At least half a dozen young people were involved in the fight on the pavement outside the library. The disturbance was seen by dozens of people, including a passing cyclist who ran to help Ms Farrar after she was knocked down.

A spokesman for Airedale and North Bradford Police said: “This is still under investigation and we’re following some positive lines of inquiry, including images from CCTV.

“Anyone with further information should contact Sergeant Alex Alderson via the non-emergency 101 number.”
