Riders post success as Harden organisation holds a country challenge

A Harden-based Riding for the Disabled group staged a successful countryside challenge competition.
Riders had to negotiate a course which included posting a letter, ducking beneath an archway and opening a gate.
The challenges were based on those used at regional and national Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) contests.
The event - organised by Bingley (St Ives) RDA Group - attracted participants from groups at Haworth, Middleton Park, Wakefield and High Hopes in Rotherham.
Riverside RDA was unable to attend, but sponsored one of the classes.
There were junior and senior classes, in independent and led categories.
Judges were Maggie Tansley and Ann Blowman - both Yorkshire and Cleveland countryside challenge regional judges - and the collecting ring steward was Julia Wilson, a county RDA instructor.
Barbara Chuter, of the Bingley (St Ives) group, said: “Everyone agreed that despite the rain it was a wonderful day. Well done to all who took part.”
She thanked builders merchant Nelsons for donating materials and joiner Trevor Luckett who built the postboxes.
And she paid tribute to instructor Elaine Goodall, Mick Tullett who did the scoring and provided logistical support, and all the volunteers.
