Priorities for improvements in villages are being set by councillors.

The three-year action plan from Shipley Area Committee will also cover Harden, Wilsden and Micklethwaite. Details will be revealed at neighbourhood forums over the next few months.

The committee, part of Bradford Council, devises a new plan every three years following talks with residents and organisations.

A committee spokesman said the current plan, running from 2006 to 2008, identified 34 priority issues. He said: “Over the past two years the committee and partners have seen significant progress in relation to the issues.”

This included spending money on road and environmental improvements and helping other agencies improve services, such as cutting crime.

The committee instigated new projects including the Community Heroes Scheme to celebrate valuable voluntary work by people.

The 2009-2011 plan, once adopted by the area committee, will be showcased at neighbourhood forums, which are open to the public.

Planned forums are: Crossflatts and Micklethwaite, St Aidan’s Church Hall, October 28, 7.30pm; Denholme Mechanics’ Institute, November 20, 7.30pm; Cullingworth Methodist Church, December 9, 7.30pm; Wilsden Village Hall, December 3, 6.45pm; Harden Primary School, March 17, 7.30pm.
