Biscuit-making, T-shirt printing and a climbing wall were all on offer at a fun day at Denholme Youth Café.

The activities were part of an open day on Saturday to show parents, councillors, police and other interested residents the work the children at the café have been doing since it opened last May.

The event was organised by Making a Difference in Denholme (MAD-D), the young people’s management group for the café, with support from Bradford Council.

Participation worker Debra Peters said: “We’ve got displays up around the café showing what the children have been doing. They have had lessons in sexual health and the MAD-D group organised a community clean-up.”

Bradford Council’s play champion, Ian Shackleton, visited the café, in Foster Park, on Saturday.

He said: “I think it’s fantastic. Anything that encourages young people to be better citizens has got to be good.”
