Harden Beck Horticultural Society has said it with flowers.

The group staged its 32nd annual spring show and flower auction, at the Golden Fleece, in the village. The pub’s taproom was filled with displays of daffodils, tulips, hyacinths and other spring flowers. Society chairman Andy Macdonald won the Alan Firth Trophy for best in show, with an exhibit of iced follies daffodils.

First prizes went to Richard Otter, for a spectacular display of tulips, and Keith Halliday for his hyacinths.

Judge was Jack Calvert.

The auction raised £200, which will support the society’s charitable work and in particular a newly formed healthy eating and gardening club at Harden Primary School.
