Groups in Denholme, Crossflatts, Harden and Cullingworth have just six days to apply for cash from three grant pots.

Money is available from Bradford Council to improve community buildings, provide youth activities and clean “grot spots”.

The funding comes from Shipley Area Committee’s £600,000 fund to support priorities in its action plan.

The committee has invited residents, community groups and parish councils to apply for various improvements and activities.

Three of the funds — covering the entire Shipley constituency — close to applications on Wednesday. Decisions will be made next month.

People can nominate neighbourhoods for “Smart and Clean” action, which can involve clean-ups, clearing of vegetation and new street lighting.

Grants of between £1,000 and £2,000 are available for activities organised by voluntary organisations including Scouts, Guides and sports clubs.

The Community Buildings Improvement Fund will provide grants of up to £10,000 to improve security, disability access or energy efficiency in community buildings and public halls. Details of how to apply are available from bradford.gov.uk/smartandclean2009 and bradford.gov.uk/shipleygrants2009.
