The 36th Harden Children’s Gala is set to be a bumper success.

The event on Saturday, June 20, will feature a wide range of attractions.

A procession will leave Ryecroft Road at 1.40pm, led by the New Orleans Jazz Band.

Fancy dress entrants will join at Midgeham Grove, following judging.

Activities on the gala field, at the Memorial Hall Park, will begin at 2pm.

The formal opening will be performed by gala queen Lucy Topham, assisted by attendants Francesca Hamer and Ellie Wakefield.

During the afternoon there will be games, stalls, a bouncy castle, roundabout, train rides and performances by a magician. Entertainment will also be provided by the jazz band.

Children’s races will begin at 3.10pm and there will be medals for the top three in the finals.

Other attractions will include a tea tent and an ice cream stall and the gala will conclude with the traditional bubble gum blowing competition.

Admission to the event is free but anyone buying a 50p programme will be entered into a draw, with the chance of winning a cash prize.

The gala committee thanks everyone who gives their support but says extra help is welcome.

Anyone able to assist with setting up or dismantling is asked to turn up after 8.30am on the day and contact a committee member.

Anybody interested in helping on a stall or game should phone chairman Graeme Wilson on 01535 274756 or Darren Robinson on 01535 271201.
