Children at St Ives Estate, Harden, are enjoying adventures thanks to a new £170,000 play area.

Work has been completed on the fun zone, which includes a rope bridge, tyre swings, Maypole, sand play and natural elements such as rocks, fallen trees and a dry river bed.

This is the first large adventure and natural play area in the district and was funded by the council’s £1.4 million Lottery All to Play For programme and Wren Challenge Funding.

Councillor Anne Hawkesworth, the council’s executive member for environment and culture, said: “This play area really fits into the environment at St Ives and gives children a safe place in which to play.”
