An Oakworth woman will march across part of Jordan later this year to raise money for Bradford Marie Curie Hospice.
Barbara Pysarczuk, 47, a medical secretary, will have a chance to visit one of the wonders of the world — the city of Petra.
She said: “Someone showed me the details of this and I thought ‘wow — seems like a really great idea’.
“I did the Race for Life one year but I haven’t done anything quite like this before. I’m looking forward to it and would like to raise as much as I can.”
People who want to sponsor her can do so online at justgiving.com/barbara76. The trek is the second of its kind organised to raise money for the hospice.
Last year, a sponsored walk to the Sahara Desert raised £89,000.
Mrs Pysarczuk will be part of a group of fundraisers, walking in Jordan in October to collect cash for the same cause. The 50k route they will follow should take four days to complete and will start and finish in Petra. It will follow Bedouin and hunter trails, crossing into deep limestone canyons and over the undulating hills of the Baidha Plateau.
Hospice community fundraising manager Brenda Doyle said anyone else interested in taking part should contact her on 01274 337035 or e-mail brenda.doyle@mariecurie.org.uk.
