Outstanding adults who make a contribution to Silsden could now be recognised with a mayor’s award.

New Silsden town mayor, Councillor Allan Edwards, wants to establish an awards scheme for people who “do something special” for the town.

Only one prize would be given each year, with the beneficiary being decided by the current mayor with the help of other Silsden town councillors.

l Two letters of complaint have been given to the town council about a lack of parking provision for the disabled in the town.

Only two bays are dedicated specifically for disabled car users, which are both situated at the top of Kirkgate. The complainants called for another designated space in the middle of the town, perhaps near the entrance to Nicholson Place.

l The council has given a one-off donation of £500 to Silsden Community Productions. It also donated £100 to-wards the Friday Coffee Morning to help with its relocation from Silsden Methodist Church, which is due to be demolished this month.
