Singing in memory of tragic stepson
The founder of a female choir has held a concert to raise money for Cancer Research after her stepson died of the disease.
Frank Wilson Isherwood, 44, died 14 months ago after a 20-year battle with cancer and now his stepmother, Elaine Isherwood, has raised £1,000 to help others fight the disease.
Mrs Isherwood, from Silsden, co-founded Cobbydale Singers 14 years ago with her childhood friend, Christine Barrett, and since then the group has travelled as far as Europe to perform.
The charity concert, pictured, took place on Saturday, at St Andrew's Church, in Kildwick, to coincide with Mrs Isherwood's 60th birthday.
Eastburn Junior and Infant School Choir and two pupils from Hothfield Junior School also performed on the evening.
Mrs Isherwood, a maternity ward clerk at Airedale Hospital, said: "My birthday was on Sunday and not being a party girl really I thought it would be nice to hold a lovely concert. After my stepson died in October 2006 I thought it would be nice to raise some money for Cancer Research.
"I would like to thank the businesses in Silsden who were really generous in donating prizes for the raffle and the girls on Ward 21 at Airedale have been great as well."
The Cobbydale and Eastburn singers wowed their audiences with numbers such as "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend", "Thank you for the Music" and "Love Changes Everything".
