Villagers eager to help Pied Piper
Silsdeners followed each other one by one into St James's Church to raise money for Pied Piper Pre School.
Parents, friends and
residents flocked to receive quality manicures, facials, spray tans and other relaxation and beauty treatments by local specialists.
The well-being evening raised £571 for the pre-school, which needs money to buy toys for the children.
Tickets cost £6, which included a complimentary treatment and glass of wine, and local businesses were invited to attend to publicise their firms to local residents.
Nicola Newman, whose son attends Pied Piper, said she thought the evening was a good idea.
She said: "I am going to have a manicure. The nursery needs some more computer programmes so it is nice to help them out in this way."
Her friend, Natalie Dearden, from Eastburn, agreed. She said: "I have bought some beautiful shoes. I am really enjoying myself."
Event organiser Joanne Wilkinson thanked everyone who was involved, especially Silsden Co-op, which donated refreshments, and Wetherspoons, in Keighley, which provided wine.
Mrs Wilkinson said: "We were very impressed with the turnout and money raised. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and it was a nice, relaxed atmosphere."
Businesses which attended on the night included Body Shop, Virgin Vie, Spray Tan by Nadine, Reflexology by Versa, Phoenix Cards, Herbal Life, Girlie Girls and many others. Another well-being evening is planned at Aire View Infants School in the near future.
