Families go wild about trail in village
Organisers have described a Steeton wildlife trail and games day as the best ever.
Over a hundred people from across the district enjoyed a Bank Holiday Monday of fun and games at St Stephen's Church. Adults and children spent the day exploring the village in search of hidden animals on a wildlife trail, and joining in activities such as hook-a-duck and croquet in the church grounds.
Organiser Barbara Marsh said: "There were games galore and families galore. The youngest there was five weeks old and the oldest, well, at least 75.
"We had over 100 entries in the children's colouring competition from the two schools, and they were of a very high standard. The winners have been picked and they will be notified this week.
Family tickets into the grounds were £5 and all proceeds will go towards converting the church steps into a ramp for wheelchair users.
