A policeman was attacked and left unconscious at Braithwaite yesterday evening.
The 25-year-old was set upon after he and a colleague had responded to a report of a disturbance - in which car windows and a house door were smashed - in Coronation Mount, at 9.30pm.
The injured officer has been detained in hospital. The extent of his injuries is unknown.
Three male youths - one aged 16 and the others both 17 - are being held by police in connection with the incident.
