A Cross Hills man was just 500 yards from home when he decided to drive back from the pub, a court heard.
Scott Goodwin, 34, was seen by police leaving the pub car park on March 21, Skipton magistrates heard on Friday.
He was stopped and taken first to Skipton Police Station and then because of a fault with intoxication equipment, to Harrogate Police Station, where he was found to have 102 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 mililitres of blood. The legal limit is 80.

The court heard that Goodwin, of Hardings Lane, lost his licence for 16 months in October 2005 for drink driving.
In mitigation, Paul Fitzpatrick said Goodwin, who admitted drink-driving, had acted stupidly when he had chosen to drive the short distance home.
Goodwin, a printer, was banned from driving for three years and fined £165. He was also ordered to pay £45 costs and a £15 victims surcharge.
Magistrates gave him the opportunity to take a drink-drivers rehabilitation course which if completed by June 2010 would reduce his ban by 25 per cent.
