CHILDREN at Worth Valley Primary School had a pink link to fundraising this month.

Pupils, staff and parents took part in Pink Friday as part of Breast cancer Awareness Month.

Children made a donation so that they could wear pink clothes for the day, and parents attended a coffee morning where pink buns were served.

The school also invited families to buy pink ribbons which were tied to the school gates in memory of those who died from cancer.

Teaching assistant Lil Curr, who organised the day, said at least 60 people bought the ribbons.

Proceeds of the Pink Friday totalled £257, and will be split equally between the charity Breast Cancer Care and the school’s own fund to improve its playground.

The Bracken Bank school plans to raise money throughout the academic year, to buy new equipment such as climbing frames and benches, and possibly resurface the playground.
