A GROUP of brave staff members braced themselves for an icy ordeal outside a Keighley distribution company.

The eight employees of Harrison & Clough, in Harclo Road, Stockbridge – including managing director Mark Hutchinson - volunteered to subject themselves to be part of the global ice bucket challenge in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Mr Hutchinson had come up with the idea of taking on the challenge and asked for more members of staff to join him. The volunteers, some of whom made sure they came dressed for the occasion, gathered to be drenched on October 3.

Human resources administrator Laura Parry, one of the participants, said she and her colleagues had so far raised a total of at least £550.

"It went well," she added. "Very cold but for a great cause!

"We had an auction where people could bid to be one of the eight people tipping the buckets. We were sponsored collectively by colleagues, customers and suppliers."

The other staff members who also took part were: James Blamire, Chris Reape, Chris Barrett, Kate Thompson, Alistair Metcalfe and Lisa Moore.
