A FUNDRAISING drive by two Keighley athletes is proving a roaring success.

Powerlifters Chris Woodhead and James Crossley have each been given £100 by Keighley Lions.

Chris, from Haworth, and James, from East Morton, are competing in next year’s World Special Olympics in Los Angeles.

The pair, who can lift 120 kilos and 152.5 kilos respectively, have been selected to represent Great Britain at the event, but need the funding to cover costs including travel, kit, accommodation and training.

A Keighley Lions spokesman said: “We wanted to help these two Keighley lads. We wish them well and hope that other people in Keighley will support their cause.”

Any businesses or individuals wishing to donate to the campaign should call 01274 437093, or e-mail bsr1@btconnect.com.

Chris and James train with Bradford Disability Sports and Leisure (BDSL) which runs several activity clubs in the Keighley area.

Several members from Keighley are taking part in BDSL’s latest project, Bradford Inclusive Cycling Hub.

BDSL is carrying out the project with Bradford Council’s Youth Service, and Cycling 4 All which is run by Bradford University’s Students Union.

The Hub, based at Lister Park in Bradford, aims to help more people access cycling and healthy lifestyles.
