A WORTH Valley parish council has welcomed a new member on board.

Mike Holdsworth, a former businessman, is now a councillor on Haworth, Cross Roads and Stanbury Parish Council.

The Butt Lane resident was co-opted at the latest meeting of the parish council. Along with the rest of the existing councillors, his current term will run until next May's election.

Coun Holdsworth has replaced Trish Thorne, who had to step down from her post earlier this year due to family reasons.

He is a member of the committee that runs Haworth's hugely popular 1940s Weekend. He is also deputy chairman of the Haworth, Cross Roads and Stanbury Neighbourhood Development Plan Steering group, as well as a member of the Community Led Plan working party.

Coun John Huxley, chairman of the parish council, said: "We'd like to welcome Mike on board. He brings to the council a whole range of skills which will certainly benefit us as we seek to deliver various projects on behalf of the community."
