AN enterprising pupil at South Craven School has raised £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Year 10 student Amelia Boyes organised and ran a fundraising coffee morning at her house.
A spokesman for her school explained: "As there were many other coffee mornings going on at the same time for the same charity this is an awesome sum of money which Amelia has raised.
"This was the first time that Amelia had ever done such a thing. She and her mum and sister made all the cakes, buns and biscuits which went on sale.
"Two of Amelia's friends – Leonie Edward and Hannah Potter – helped with the serving and selling of raffle tickets.
"They are so pleased with the results that they are looking forward to organising similar events in the future."
