BRADFORD Theatres promise a sensational spring season as the Alhambra begins its second century.

Bradford Alhambra will tour some of the biggest and best classic musicals currently touring the UK.

Meanwhile nearby St George’s Hall will offer a host of tribute acts and children’s shows while the Alhambra Studio presents new comedy nights.

The Alhambra hosts Calamity Jane, Anything Goes and Oklahoma, along with Cirque Eloise from contemporary dance specialists The Dance Consortium.

There are compelling dramas from the National Theatre and the Touring Consortium Theatre Company, a gothic fairytale from dance maestro Matthew Bourne, and plenty of Yorkshire wit in acclaimed film adaptation The Full Monty.

The multi-awarding West End hit Jersey Boys is also coming to Bradford, along with the musical stage version of 1979 movie Saturday Night Fever.

St George’s Hall will offer family shows including classic stories The Tiger Who Came To Tea and The Cat In The Hat, and popular puppet Sooty.

Musical tributes include King Of Pop – The Legend Continues about Michael Jackson, hit touring show Abba Mania, Born This Way – The Lady GaGa Experience, and the ever-popular One Night Of Elvis.

The Studio is the place to be for comedy with the new and regular Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club, with acts including Tom Stade and Allyson Smith.

The studio also welcomes top stand-ups Stephen K Amos, Alun Cochrane, Romesh Ranganathan and Suzi Ruffell.

Over at our King’s Hall in Ilkley there will be a variety of shows including Claire Martin and Ray Gelato’s A Swinging Affair, Michael Portillo presenting Life: A Game Of Two Halves, and Joe Longthorne performing his popular act.

The Alhambra’s annual pantomime Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will begin on December 13, and run until January 25.

Adam Renton, General Manager of Bradford Theatres, said that following the Alhambra’s “very special” 100th anniversary he was looking ahead to an equally exciting 2015.
