Pedal power will once again raise money for Manorlands.

The Oxenhope hospice is gearing up for its annual Brontë Big K Mountain Bike Challenge, on September 20.

Participants this year can choose from three routes — 11, 21 or 31 miles, each named after one of the famous literary sisters and starts and finishes in Oxenhope.

The event’s new main sponsor is Keighley chartered accountant Walkers and there is continued support from Keighley Area Committee.

Manorlands fundraiser Andrew Wood said it was hoped proceeds from this year’s challenge would eclipse the £10,000 raised last year.

He said: “Adding the new intermediate 21-mile route to the 31-mile challenge and the 11-mile family route means that the event now truly caters for people of all abilities.

“It’s also a nice touch that the three routes are named after the Brontë sisters, who were inspired by the countryside participants will be riding through. People can consider their ability and choose between Charlotte, Emily and Anne.”
