Writer Barbara Taylor Bradford is to launch the latest Bronte arts season.

Barbara, best-known for A Woman of Substance, will discuss her books, career and love of the Brontes.

She will speak with art critic and journalist Danuta Kean in Haworth on Saturday at 7.30pm.

Barbara’s appearance at the Old Schoolroom, Haworth, is part of a UK tour celebrating 30 years of her most famous work.

The season of arts events also includes a talk by Peter Bowker, who recently adapted Wuthering Heights for ITV1.

There will also be readings by novelists Sarah Waters and Tracy Chevalier and creative writing workshops.

The season is being organised by the Bronte Parsonage Museum, in Haworth.

Alongside visual arts exhibitions, talks and workshops, Arts Council England is funding events to showcase women's writing.

Jenna Holmes, the museum’s arts officer, said the Bronte sisters had been pioneering women writers. She said: “We are delighted that Arts Council England is supporting us to really explore the Brontes’ influence on contemporary women writers today.

“It is allowing us to support emerging women writers and introduce new creative writing projects and events for everyone who comes to the museum.”

The grant is also paying for Katrina Naomi, the museum’s first writer-in-residence, who will explore the museum’s collections and work with community groups.

Poet and creative writing lecturer Katrina will lead a Poetry Day on October 10, producing new poems inspired by visitor responses.

Tracy Chevalier, who wrote Girl with a Pearl Earring, will discuss her new novel Remarkable Creatures on October 16.

Peter Bowker will be joined by members of the Wuthering Heights production team for his talk on October 24.

Sarah Waters, whose novels include Tipping the Velvet, will talk about her career and latest novel The Little Stranger on November 28. The day also features writing workshops organised by women’s writing magazine Mslexia.

Other events: Mr Lockwood’s Confusing Christmas with Bronte characters, December 12; writer Lisa Appignanesi, March 10; exhibition by artist Jo Brown, March 5 to May 3; Persephone Books, March 24.
