People driving a varied collection of commercial, agricultural and military vehicles have got together to raise £2,000 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

They were all taking part in the latest Christmas Bronte Tractor Run.

They assembled at Colin Appleyard Cars, in Halifax Road, before setting off on their 24-mile route around Keighley and the Worth Valley. They paused for refreshments at the Grouse pub, in Oldfield, along the way.

Stanley Turner, one of the organisers, said: “It went fine, we had a really good day. We had a lot of vehicles this time – 75 altogether. They were all tractors, Jeeps, wagons and Land Rovers.

“There were a lot of new faces. We had one chap come along from Gomersal and another chap came with a Jeep from Northampton.

“The weather was lovely and the sun even came out for us. We had a good run down to the Grouse where they laid on a good spread – I’d like to say thank you to them.

“We then went through Stanbury and Oxenhope and into Haworth where we collected money along Main Street. We finished at the Bronte Hotel and had a nice meal there.

“A couple of representatives from the Yorkshire Air Ambulance came along to talk about what they do.

“Everyone enjoyed the day. We’ve raised about £2,000 and there’s still a bit more money to come in.”

Mr Turner also thanked the sponsors of last Tuesday’s event, including the main sponsor, Colin Appleyard.
