Haworth artist Jane Sedgwick will give a hearty welcome to drivers as they pass her house on Haworth Brow.

They will see a large heart she has woven out of willow as part of Haworth Festival’s art trail.

The heart is one of 20 exhibitions, demonstrations and individual works that can be seen from Saturday until July 8.

Jane’s creation was pruned from a willow archway created by gardener Steve Thorpe at Haworth Primary School.

She wanted to brighten the lives of motorists negotiating the difficult junction of Brow Top Road and Hebden Road.

She said: “There are lots of little clashes and people shouting at the junction – so I’m trying to give a bit of peace and love instead.”

The art trail takes in Haworth Park’s railings, Main Street, the community centre lawn, village shops and the primary school.

The school’s art exhibition takes place on Tuesday from 2pm to 7pm, and includes a free silk painting workshop.

Information points on Main Street will provide updates on the art trail.
