Youngsters left starry-eyed
Children at Glusburn Primary School enjoyed the wonders of astronomy from indoors during the daytime last week.
They managed it thanks to a planetarium, supplied to the school by Education Bradford.
The facility, called a Star Dome, was provided as part of the school's science week. The tent-like structure was erected in the sports hall and was able to accommodate up to 30 children at a time.
Inside, the school's deputy head, Richard Hunt, used a projector and a torch to portray images of the constellations on the walls.
All of Glusburn Primary's pupils had a chance to go inside the planetarium and learn about the delights of the night sky.
Mr Hunt explained the classical names of ancient stars and constellations and showed pupils how they could recognise them.
The planetarium remained in place after school hours last week, to allow parents to share in the experience.
