Keighley MP Kris Hopkins joined parliamentary colleagues and council leaders from across the political divide to highlight the 100-day countdown to the 2014 Tour de France Grand Depart.

The group also included South Craven MP Julian Smith.

Mr Hopkins said: “Local excitement is really building as we await the arrival of the peloton and all that goes with it.

“Communities across Keighley and Ilkley have been working incredibly hard for months in preparation for stepping into the global spotlight as we welcome the world’s biggest outdoor sporting event to our doorsteps.

“The potential benefits for local businesses and tourism are considerable, and we want to ensure we make the very best of the opportunities on offer.

“It will be a weekend to remember, and it is wonderful so many local residents will be able to play an active part in it.”
