Beverley 49 Keighley 10
Keighley’s spirit and endeavour were not enough to deny a strong Beverley side a comprehensive victory.
They were unable to contain a speedy three-quarter line, finally conceding eight tries, all but one of which were scored by the backs.
An early try by Harry Titley, converted by Ben Blackwell (pictured), gave Keighley the lead but the home side gradually took control. They added three first-half tries, Keighley’s only response being a Blackwell penalty goal.
Although the Rose Cottage side competed well up front, the superior fitness and pace of the home side took its toll.
Slovenian international wingman Goran Jelencic crossed for four tries and others were added by New Zealanders Richard Bussey and Chris Infield, with Chris Brant completing the scoring.
