Silsden’s interim management team of Andy Geary and Paul Schofield hope to take charge of their first game at neighbours Barnoldswick Town on Saturday.

The North West Counties Premier Division outfit parted company with Chris Reape before Christmas, with the Cobbydalers in a disappointing 16th spot, but his temporary replacements were denied their first game when the match at home to Colne on Boxing Day was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Saturday's game not only marks Geary’s return to the helm at the Cobbydalers, with whom he achieved seven promotions during his ten years in charge. He also had a spell managing Barnoldswick.

Should the game get the go-ahead, Silsden will find it difficult against a club in ninth place with games in hand on five of the clubs above them.

However, Barnoldswick’s confidence will be low following Boxing Day’s 3-1 defeat at Padiham and, like Silsden, have been affected by postponements.

The home side have lost three and had four called off from their last seven scheduled fixtures.

One of those losses was to a club from a lower step on the pyramid. They were beaten 3-1 at AFC Emley in the FA Vase.
