Leafy Cheshire may well be leafless and frost-bound on Saturday, putting Silsden’s proposed match at  Congleton Town, in the North West Counties League Premier Division, in jeopardy.

It will be the third game for interim management duo Andy Geary and Paul Schofield, the pair who were placed in charge following Chris Reape’s departure.

The new pairing have inherited a promising squad from Reape and his assistant Danny Bolton but have been trying to introduce some experienced new signings to help the young players.

Cobbydalers’ spokesman Jim Rosser said: “Andy and Paul have brought Scott Price in, and he has done well in both games that he has played - a bit of experience in midfield.

"They also have Joe Gaughan who can get goals and makes a big difference to us.

“Joe was playing really well at the start of the season under Chris but had a move Brighouse Town that didn’t really work out. He lost a bit of focus but he is looking sharp again now.

“We lost last week at Runcorn Town but they missed out on promotion last season and are in the last 32 of the FA Vase on Saturday. Congleton are seventh so that will be another difficult game if it’s on.”
